Stand Sure Vineyard

6055 Bethel Heights Road NW Salem, OR 97304 Phone: 503-364-7688 E-mail: ervina33@msn.com Stand Sure Vineyard is named after the Anderson Scottish motto, "Stand Sure", but the origins of the vineyard took awhile to gain their solid footings. Initially, Leo and Ervina Anderson, the owners of Stand Sure Vineyard, purchased the property with no thoughts of planting a vineyard. They were focused on creating a Bed & Breakfast and raising a few sheep. Then, one Sunday morning in 1997, a B&B guest, who was the Keynote speaker that year for the Oregon Winegrowers Association meeting, looked out the kitchen window and noticed a freshly plowed plot of ground. He asked the Andersons what they were going to plant. They responded that they would plant alfalfa for their flock of sheep. "That is dumb," he replied, "get smart and plant grapes!" And thus, the seeds of Stand Sure Vineyard were planted. Tasting Room Hours: Sorry, no tasting room at this vineyard. Owners and Founders: Leo and Ervina Anderson Contact: Leo Anderson Acreage Planted: 7 acres Varieties Planted: 1.5 Acres - Pinot gris, clone 152 planted in 1997. 1.5 Acres - Pinot noir, Wadensvil planted in 1998. 1.5 Acres - Pinot noir, Pommard planted in 1998. 1.7 Acres - Chardonnay, clones 76 and 96, planted in 1999. .47 Acres - Tempranillo #2. All plants are grafted to 3309 root stock. Elevation, Exposure and Soil Profile: The vineyard elevation varies from 510 ft. on the West to 595 ft. at the NE corner, giving it a mostly South Western exposure. The soil is primarily Nekia and Jory. Wineries Producing Vineyard Designates: Stangeland Winery and Vineyards bought all our Pinot noir from early on, and started giving us a Vineyard Designate label in 2002. In 2009, the vineyard was leased to Witness Tree.
