Geoffrey Crowther started making wine in 1988 as a home winemaker.  He belonged to a Home Winemaking Club that provided numerous educational opportunities in winemaking.  He also took several weekend winemaking seminars put on by the University of California at Davis.  He and his wife Lane planted a vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills in 1998 and started making Pinot Noir commercially in 2002 in Oregon.  He has made the Pinot Gris for Calamity Hill Vineyard and Farm since their first vintage.
